Creamy prawn curry Odia style in 30 mins

INGREDIENTS

• 500gm deshelled and deveined prawns ( marinated with 3/4 tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp red chilly powder, ½ tsp salt) • 1 large red onion, roughly chopped • 1 inch ginger, roughly chopped • 5 cloves garlic, roughly chopped • 1 large tomato, roughly chopped • 1tbsp coriander powder • ¾ tbsp cumin powder • ½ tbs chili powder • ½ tsp turmeric powder • ½ tsp garam masala • Salt to taste • 250 gm Coconut milk • 4-5 tbs oil for frying

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Marinate the prawns in turmeric, chilly powder and salt for 30 mins. 2. Heat 2 tbsp oil for frying. Add the marinated prawns and light fry for a minute or two. Keep prawns aside. 3. Grind the roughly chopped onion, ginger, garlic, and tomato in food processor with a splash of water into paste 4. Heat the pan in which you fried the prawns. Once heated, add the paste and cook on low heat till all the water evaporates. Once the water is evaporated, add 2-3 tbsp of oil and slow cook the paste till raw smell disappears. 5. Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander and cumin powders and mix well with paste and cook for a few more mins. Once done, add water and bring to simmer. 6. Now add lightly fried prawn, salt to taste, and simmer for 5 mins till prawns are cooked through. Once cooked, add coconut milk and mix lightly. Add the garam masala at the end and mix lightly. Switch off flame. 7. Serve with rice or chapati.
