Sharing Diwali Sweets with Our Neighbors

Since meeting my husband, Bharat, Diwali has no doubt become one of my favorite festivals of the year. The highlight of Diwali, for me, is no doubt the process of making and sharing sweets.

To me, Diwali sweets represent joy, happiness, and, above all, tokens of love for our fellow human beings.

This year, with my fellow MasterChef, Divya, we've created trays of sweets. But we've gone a step further; we've chosen a special place to express our gratitude, respect, and acknowledgment of the presence of these special individuals in our lives.

Come & Follow us! Here we are, at a neighboring construction site that my son Rayaan and I pass by every day on our way to school.

The migrant workers at this site are always incredibly friendly and kind to us. They help direct traffic, offer warm greetings, and share smiles that brighten our day. Most of them are from India and Bangladesh, away from their families on a year-long assignment. We want to share the Diwali sweets with them, as our way of saying 'you matter to us'.
